About me
I am Mercedes
I am a QiGong, Tai Chi, and Kung Fu instructor, and the founder of Rahem.EnergyArts, a project dedicated to Conscious Movement and the Internal Martial Arts as a path to physical, energetic, and personal transformation.
My journey began in dance before evolving into an extensive training in the martial arts. This background has shaped an approach that integrates alignment, structure, balance, and embodied presence, fostering a deep connection between body, mind, and consciousness.
I hold a PhD, with doctoral research focused on emotions and gender studies, and I am also a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Energetic Therapy. Bringing together academic research, therapeutic practice, embodied movement and lately voice and overtone singing has allowed me to develop an integrative perspective on human wellbeing.
Today, my work bridges the martial, therapeutic, and artistic worlds, exploring the relationship between structure, energy, and emotion. Through precise and experiential teaching, I guide people toward greater physical alignment, freer energy flow, and a deeper sense of embodied awareness.
My purpose is to support people in reconnecting with their body, mind, and spirit through ancient practices of profound internal depth, helping them cultivate lasting transformation, resilience, and a more authentic way of inhabiting themselves.

Why Rahem Energy Arts?
I chose the name Rahem because, in Arabic, it is associated with the womb—a timeless symbol of creation, nourishment, and transformation, where a a new way of being can emerge.
Across many traditions, the womb represents the space where life is received, nurtured, and allowed to unfold into something new. In Chinese culture, this creative and nurturing quality is often reflected through symbols such as the lotus, which grows from the depths to blossom into beauty and wholeness.
The Yin-Yang symbolism of my logo representing Fallopian tubes, is the culmination of that being: the union and balance between two forces that interwine with one another, giving rise to a void (Wuji)–from with new blossoming can emerge.
The idea arose from a personal self-healing process forged over years of work — weaving together writing, Conscious Movement through Dance, Chinese Martial Arts, and an in-depth study of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Astrology — in order to recover physically, energetically, and emotionally. The result was the gestation of my own inner potential and a new awareness that opened up fresh paths to explore.
For what Rahem Energy Arts?
At Rahem, we understand the martial arts as a path of inner transformation.
Through Tai Chi, Qigong, and Kung Fu, we work with the body through deep alignment, mindful movement, breathing, and the cultivation of energy, integrating tradition with a modern understanding of the human body.
It is not simply about learning techniques or improving physical fitness. It begins with something more fundamental: learning to feel. To reconnect with the body, to understand movement, to cultivate energy, and to awaken the connection with the heart.
From this foundation, a stable structure naturally develops. The body becomes more aligned, the mind grows calmer, and awareness becomes clearer. As this inner stability deepens, we are able to respond to life’s challenges with greater balance, resilience, and presence.
Through consistent practice, transformation is no longer something to achieve—it becomes a natural expression of who we are.

Suitable for all ages, these ancient practices connect you with your body and mind, improving your overall health.

KungFu classes

Energetic Therapy & Traditional Chinese Medicine
(Ávila y Madrid)

Traditional Chinese Medicine understands that the body, mind, and energy form an inseparable whole.
Every person is unique, and every symptom carries meaning within their personal story and reflects the way the body is striving to adapt and restore balance.
My approach combines the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a deep understanding of movement, body structure, and energy to offer personalised support, helping you restore a deeper and more lasting sense of balance.
"I do not seek to fight symptoms; I seek to understand the language of the body and support its natural capacity to restore balance."
